30-day transition roadmap
WHY TLR?
Fat Loss Without the Restrictive Diet Culture.
Most weight-loss challenges rely on willpower, extreme restriction, and punishing exercise. But when you fight your body’s biology, biology always wins.
The Lean Reset is different.
Developed by Dr Daphne Lyell and Shannon Smuts as a streamlined, focused offshoot of The Metabolic Reset, TLR marries clinical metabolic science with practical nutrition and mindset tools. Instead of white-knuckle restriction, TLR teaches you how to work with your appetite chemistry, blood sugar signals, and underlying hormones.
Whether you are looking to kickstart focused fat loss, re- establish healthy baselines, or break free from hyper-palatable food traps, TLR gives you the structure and science to transform—sustainably.

I'm 43, and when I turned 40, life happened not in such a good way. I realized that I had constant IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and constant bladder infections. To top it off, 18 months ago, I had a bulging disc in my neck, which got me booked off for two months at work—a first for me, as I'm never sick.
I needed a big neurological reset because I didn't want to be operated on. I opt for the natural recovery route, so I had to trust this process. I'm not big on supplements, but I took a leap of faith knowing I had to invest back into my health.
Today I'm pain-free and I've got my quality of life back, which is brilliant. I have no signs of IBS or bladder infections, my energy is high, and I feel good. I've lost 10 kilograms in the process, which is a side benefit for me.
At 40, I lost control of my health overnight. Now I've got my baseline sorted again and I feel very blessed. It took around two months into the program to really start seeing a shift. I'm no longer scared or fearful because I know what my baseline is and what I can move back to if I start getting symptoms again.
This has been wonderful for me. Thank you so much, Daphne and Shannon, for getting me back into my own kitchen—that was a big shift for me.

I've been working with Dr. Daphne since February, but I also saw her last year when I had a bad shingles outbreak on my face. That started me realizing that the way I was living—and the stress I was allowing to overtake myself and my body—just wasn't healthy anymore.
So I've been following a plan with Dr. Daphne for three months now. The first bit was hard, I'm not going to lie. There are a couple of weeks where you have to find your inner strength and push through, because I promise you the outcome is going to be so much better. Like Mariza said, it's finding what it is to be healthy again and finding ways that you can manage your health yourself. You don't always have to run to a doctor.
There is excellent support that Dr. Daphne and Shannon provide on the group, with constant guidance. The voice messages you receive are amazing, giving you such incredible insight into your body that I don't think you can get anywhere else.
Three months in, my energy is not what I thought I would ever have. I thought I was just going to be a tired person for the rest of my life, and that was it. It's unbelievable. I wake up feeling good. I've lost about 20 kgs in this process, so I'm feeling much better in that sense. Although I know weight isn't what your self-esteem should come from, it feels good. I'm feeling great, and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

I'm halfway through the current program that's running. I joined pretty last minute because I found out about it through a friend. I have struggled with irritable bowel since I was a kid, actually, and I had a very bad bout of it in April and May that I couldn't bring back with the normal things I do.
Honestly, I can't say enough about the program. It's been quite miraculous for me in so many ways. Firstly, my tummy has settled, which was the primary motive. But what I didn't realize was that I was under-eating, and my energy is just completely different to what I've experienced for years. I sleep so much better. I am like an evangelist about this program—I wish everyone would do it because it makes so much difference on so many levels.
There are so many layers to the program that Dr. Lale has introduced us to. I haven't even scratched the surface with regard to working with some of the oils—I'm doing a little bit, but not as much as I could.
I am one of the few whose weight hasn't dropped, sadly. It would always be a nice side benefit, but I want to say that because it's an important thing to understand that that's not always going to be the case. I do feel that my inflammation has dropped hugely. People tell me that I look like I've lost a lot of weight, but I think it's that inflammation dropping and just looking smaller, even though I haven't dropped on the scale.
My energy is incredibly steady. The one thing that has made such a difference to my days is that my mind is very clear, and I'm also not as anxious. I have had panic attacks in the car in the past, and now I drive quite happily home and back to work without anxiety.
There are so many benefits to the program. It's a big upheaval at first in terms of how you organize your kitchen and your day, but cooking in batches makes a huge difference and actually makes life much easier anyway. That's created a good discipline for me.
It's an investment in yourself where you're going to learn a huge amount about yourself, because none of us focus on ourselves sufficiently, and it's just hugely nurturing on so many levels. I would really recommend it.

I've been surprised by the benefits that I have seen from the metabolic reset. I came into it struggling with eczema, but through this process, I've learned that if I've been running on empty for five years, my body isn't going to bounce back overnight—it needs to take its time. In a way, the eczema was just my body speaking up, saying, "You need nutrition. You need support."
The eczema has gone down and come up depending on other things, but there have been other major benefits. My mental health has drastically improved. I was actually taking ADHD meds, getting them from my doctor in South Africa while living in England. I ran out just as the course started, which turned out to be amazing timing. In that first week, just doing the metabolic reset, I felt such a calm in my mind—feeling like I was giving my brain the nourishment it needed. That was an added bonus I wasn't expecting.
Seeing the contrast between my lifestyle before starting the reset and the direction I'm going in now, I realized I was basically malnourished, which I think many of us are. It felt like a beautiful act of self-compassion to nourish myself. It often comes naturally to women to serve others, so there have been times—like trying to eat before the cutoff time at the end of the day—where I've had to say to my kids, "You need to wait. I'm going to eat my food first, and then I'll sort you out." It feels like a good reversal of putting my own oxygen mask on first so that I have more to give everybody else.
For me, this is definitely a lifestyle shift. I'm realizing I need to be patient, and as long as my body needs to be nourished and taken care of, I'm going to keep doing this ongoingly.
